United for Pakistan Independence Day (UFPID) Presents “JAL the band in PAKDAY LA 2009 “ a program event for entire family.

“Saturday, August 08, 2009 will mark the largest Pakistan Independence Day Celebration in the history of California ”, reports a UFPID spokesman.

Exposition Park, Los Angeles, California

UFPID is made up of more than twenty Southern California-based Pakistani Community organizations and prominent community members who have come together to hold the Pakistan Independence Day celebration this year. In memory and honor of the great sacrifices that were made to create Pakistan, UFPID is striving to provide an event that is both educational and entertaining, as well as truly representative of our rich heritage and culture and befitting our great nation of Pakistan.

Booths : The UFPID anticipates this year’s Pakistan Independence Day Celebration to be one of the most exciting and biggest events of this year. Over 100 vendor booths are expected featuring delicious Pakistani food, clothes, jewelry, CDs/DVDs, artifacts, handicrafts, sporting goods, social services, South Asian and Middle Eastern programming channels, healthcare products and services, and many other products and services available to consumers. Various exhibitors from Southern California are expected to display their products and services at this festival.

Food : Only Halal and vegetarian food will be served at this event. Almost all the famous community restaurants have reserved their booths already. They will be serving the tastiest/mouthwatering authentic Pakistani food including charcoal grilled tandoori, traditional biryani, kabob, chicken tikka, paya, haleem, nihari, hot tandoori naan, and more!

Entertainment : A music concert featuring JAL the band & other artists from Pakistan as well as local bands will be the highlight of the event. Popular performers, singers and dancers from Pakistan and USA are expected to enthrall the audience. Local talent is also invited to perform at this event. Bhangra groups from various major universities of southern California are expected to participate in the Bhangra-Contest at this occasion.

Special rides and games will be provided for children. A bounce house, clown, carnival games, face painting of the Pakistani flag, petting zoo and much more will be provided for the entertainment of our kids.

Special arrangements will be made for the convenience of seniors.
Uplifting and invigorating performance by marching bands.
Silent drill by the U.S. Marine Cadet-R.O.T.C.
Fashion Show & Cultural Dances
And much more!

Admission : Everyone Welcome – No Entrance Fee There is no entrance fee for this event and all are welcome. People of all denominations, origins, etc. are cordially invited to attend this event to enjoy the rich heritage, culture and hospitality of Pakistanis in America. We need your support. Please come join us at this event with your kids, elders, family and friends and please bring non-Pakistani guests with you to introduce our culture and heritage.

On August 9, 2008, Abrar Ul Haq along with Josh, Tariq Tafu and local bands gave a memorable performance at the Pak Day LA 2008, Exposition Park, Los Angeles. As always the event was free for public. It was the first time that Abrar performed for Jashn-e-Azadi mela in LA. An estimated 20K+ crowd were at hand that evening, electrified and brimming with patriotic fervor. The mela went on till past midnight.

Los Angeles, CA: The 60th Pakistan Independence Day celebrations at the Los Angeles Exhibition Park on August 11 furnished a truly soul-lifting spectacle. The surging crowd continued to multiply by the minute. The heavy traffic choked the nearby Kings Blvd as spirited Pakistanis sped to the park, which caused the parking lots to overflow, and forced the organizers to permit parking on nearby lawns.
Each individual in the crowd , which according to some estimates exceeded 18,000, appeared visibly charged, yet no rowdy behavior was in evidence. Instead, a rare patriotic fervor marked the proceedings.
The event generated a great deal of jollity and disciplined merriment. There were vivid manifestations of the spirit of Unity, Faith and Discipline, thanks to the splendid arrangements made by the organizers – United for Pakistan Independence Day (UFPID). Most members of the community described the celebrations as “historic” and the “best” organized in the history of Los Angeles.

UNITED FOR PAKISTAN INDEPENDENCE DAY 2007 (UFPID)

Re: Pakistan’s 60th Independence Day Celebration

This year upon the urging of the community and the appeal of the Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Syed Ibne Abbas, several Pakistani organizations and community leaders have come together to work towards the common goal of holding only one, single Pakistan Independence Day Celebration in the Greater Los Angeles Area .

For this purpose, a united, non-partisan organization comprised of several Southern California-based Pakistani organizations and community members has been formed to hold Pakistan’s 60th Independence Day Celebration on August 11 this year.

The organization is hence appropriately named United for Pakistan Independence Day 2007 (UFPID).

This organization or alliance will not represent or promote any single cause, participating organization or individual. The only purpose of this not-for-profit organization will be to promote Pakistan , to promote friendship and solidarity among the Pakistani community, and to produce a high-quality family event that will provide education and entertainment in the true essence of our culture and heritage.

No individual or organization will be charged with the responsibility to head this alliance, and there will be no Presidents or Committee-Chairs. The affairs of this organization will be handled in a truly democratic manner by an Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee, comprised of an Organizing Committee and an Advisory Committee, has been formed to organize the event. The Organizing Committee will be responsible for all the operations and the Advisory Committee will perform as the overseer or adviser for this event.

It is in this spirit of friendship and community solidarity that we wish to cordially invite all the community members to support this important event. Let’s all celebrate this day together and in the manner that is befitting our great nation of Pakistan.
